The Putting Game Rules
The game variations which are possible with the Puttastic
putting platen are limited only by the players imagination. Here
is one game which we like.
1. The Game Board
The Puttastic game board has three pockets with different
width openings, the widest being on the left, the narrowest on
the right. The carefully engineered pockets capture the ball to
keep it from interfering with play.
For the purposes of our scoring system the pockets have been
assigned values from one for the widest hole to three for the
narrowest.
2. The Object of the Game
Each player starts with 21 points and play proceeds until the
first player reaches 0. The first and last scoring shots must
be a 2 (the centre pocket).
There is no limit to the number of players. The nature of the
competition will tend to dictate the number of players. For serious
competition more than six players will make the game drag. For
social competitions the more the merrier.
3. The Scoring
- The order of play for the first game should be decided by
a coin toss or other lottery. In subsequent games the highest
score from the previous game should go first.
- Each player has 3 shots at each turn
- Before a player can start scoring, he or she must score 2
points (putt the ball into the centre pocket). The score for
that turn will be the 2 point ball and any points scored on subsequent
shots.
- To finish the game the player must reduce the score to 2
and then shoot a 2 point ball (the centre pocket). If the player
reduces the score to 1 or shoots a 3 when the score is 3 then
all points scored in that turn are lost and play passes to the
next player.
4. The Rules
- Any ball which is not entirely in the pocket does not score
points. (An easy test is to lightly tap a ruler across the front
edge of the game board. If the ball moves it wasn't in)
- A ball in the play area may not be moved. If a ball is knocked
in by another ball it scores the value of the pocket.
- The shooting distance should vary according to the overall
skill level of the participants but must be the same for all.
12 to 15 feet (4 to 5 yards) is an appropriate distance.
Total Point Scoring Game
This is a good game to play in groups. Each player has three
to five shots. You get one point for the widest hole, two points
for the centre hole and three points for the narrowest hole. The
player with the highest score wins the game. In the event of a
tie, a three-ball shoot-off will be played to determine the winner.
